Intelligent Commission: The Follow-Me-Mode of Autonomous Mobile Robots

With regard to higher physical exertion of technical labour in automobile transfer, BIBA collaborates with the partners BLG LOGISTICS, ELROTEC and HUNIC on the MEXOT project, sponsored by BMDV’s programme IHATEC. The goal of the project is an ergonomic design of workplaces while also improving process efficiency. Automated transport systems are part of a possible solution.  Within the MEXOT project we research and develop a Follow-Me mode of autonomous transport systems to enable intelligent commission in storage, so workers can directly commission the required merchandise onto the loading equipment of the autonomous transport system. The autonomous transport system follows the worker, who activates the Follow-Me mode with smartwatch or gesture interaction. The video showcases a prototype of the Follow-Me mode with a laboratory example.
