It was founded in July 1981 as an affiliated department of the University of Bremen and is now one of the greater research institutions in the state. The employees come from very different disciplines, which forms the basis for researching and developing innovative technical and organizational solutions. One of BIBA&#8217;s core competences is the development of innovative robot solutions and their integration into logistical processes. Another focus of its work is the development and application of artificial intelligence methods and algorithms. With the Computer Vision Lab (VisionLab), BIBA has a service centre for developing and testing innovative applications of image processing and artificial intelligence (e.g. deep machine learning) for production and logistics.
